Public Statement
Dear beloved members of Igbo community in Ottawa/Gatineau Canada,
As you know, the COVID-19 pandemic that is ravaging the whole world is a real threat to humanity. We write therefore, to check in on how each and every one of you is doing physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
This is the time to be our brothers and sisters keeper in our community and take care of loved ones, neighbours and ourselves too. We should proactively manage our stress levels and take care of our health, and those of others around us.
The impacts of this disease may fall most heavily on those who are vulnerable, which in this case, is unfortunately each and every one of us. This is why we should take every necessary precaution to safeguard ourselves from exposure to this disease.
Leaving no one behind by reaching out and checking in on friends and family, promoting physical distancing and other recommendations by the public health agency of Canada are core principles to help us go through this difficult period. Now that everyone is locked down at home, a simple phone call could make a big difference in someone’s life, so please call one another from time to time to lighten up their day.
As children of God, this is the time to fully activate our faith in God to protect us (our family, friends, neighbours, etc.) from this highly infectious disease.
We are all in this together as they say, and we will get through it together by lifting each other up.
